Rivers Cuyahoga River
of the region

The terrain of Northeast Ohio is shaped by rivers. We don't have mountains rising up from the land; we have rivers cutting down through layers of glacial till and sedimentary rock. We have broad valleys and steep ravines.

The rivers not only create our topographic identity, they are important indicators of our environmental quality. The condition of our rivers and streams tells a lot about the sustainability of our society.

This section of the site provides overviews of the major rivers and streams in Northeast Ohio. It will also provide updates on the citizen groups working to protect each stream.
