Chagrin River Watershed The higher elevations and steeper gradients of the land east of Cleveland give the streams in the Chagrin River watershed a different character than many of the other river systems in northern Ohio. The water flows faster and colder, and several tributary streams are still pristine enough to provide coldwater habitat for rare, native fish like brook trout.
