New director for EcoVillage

In March 2004, Mandy Metcalf joined the Cleveland EcoVillage as its new project director. She succeeds David Rowe, who moved to a position in the City of Cleveland's Department of Community Development, and Manda Gillespie, EcoVillage Project Manager at EcoCity Cleveland.

The director position is part of a new organization for the EcoVillage which includes a new board to oversee the project. The board includes community representative and director Mark McDermott, area councilman Matthew Zone, and others.

Previously, Mandy was an urban planner at Kent State University's Urban Design Center of Northeast Ohio, where she worked on redevelopment projects in the Broadway and Cudell neighborhoods. She also helped plan improvements to RTA transit stops.

Mandy has a Masters degree in city and regional planning from the University of North Carolina and a Bachelors degree in environment resource management from Penn State.

Her position is being sponsored jointly by EcoCity Cleveland and the Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization. Her office is in the Detroit Shoreway offices in the Gordon Square Arcade, 6516 Detroit Ave. Contact her by or at 216-961-4242.
