Parks at the mouth This concept is being circulated by Dan T. Moore III, developer of the Whiskey Island Marina on the lakefront just west of the mouth of the Cuyahoga River. The plan would provide two areas of public open space on the east side of the river by decreasing the Port Authority's footprint, but it would not decrease the port's steel receiving or shipping capacity (creating a "right-sized" port). The configuration would permit the city to meet contract obligations to provide parking for Browns games (with cars parking on the grass), and it would provide and east side terminus for the Canal Towpath Trail. On the west side of the river, a new park on 20 acres of Whiskey Island could be created. This land would have to be purchased from Moore and his partners.
